On 30 April 2006, Vaisakhi was celebrated at the famed Trafalgar Square in the heart of London. Vaisakhi on the Square was organised by the Vaisakhi in London Committee with support from the Mayor of London and was sponsored by numerous corporate sponsors.
This got me thinking. Why doesn’t San Francisco host an exhorbitant affair to celebrate the Indian Independence Day? San Francisco has a large Indian community and can definately host such an event. Isn’t it time that all Indians congregate at the heart of the city rather than be tucked in the suburbia to celebrate this vibrant and diverse country.
Let the quest begin ..
